April 9, 2025
Building strong employer partnerships is at the heart of our mission at Métis Employment & Training (MET) to support the labour market needs of the Red River Métis Nation. Through collaboration with private industry, public sector entities, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions, MET supports the Human Resource needs of employers with a focus on employment for Red River Métis Citizens.
On April 9, MET will be presenting on the Targeted Wage Subsidy Program (TWS)-an initiative that fosters sustainable employment by blending on-the-job training with wage subsidies to support workforce re-entry and skill development. This enables Red River Métis job seekers to gain valuable work experience. The presentation will also highlight summer employment opportunities and how MET can assist with HR recruitment.
Targeted Wage Subsidy Program (TWS)
• TWS wage subsidy is negotiated based on the individual client or potential Métis hire's experience and education. It can cover up to 60% of wages for a maximum of six months.
• Employers can apply for multiple summer students; however, priority is given based on the employment opportunity, the full salary being offered, and any additional salary top-ups. Summer employment is for ages 15-30, and we have funding available to support all working-age populations through the TWS program.
